At the heart of artsparks is a commitment to building a community that celebrates the strengths and achievements of all people. In the past two years of programming we have seen the participants ofartsparks ‘sparked’ with the power of artistic creation and expression, becoming happier and more confident in their lives and more active members of the community. Participants of our program are more inclined to continue their exploration of Red Deer Public Library and the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, attending exhibits and making better use of the literary and historical resources that are offered. Additionally, by providing programs that are accessible to everyone, artsparks is creating a culture that encourages diversity and values the participation and experiences of all community members. In showcasing the talents of people with developmental disabilitiesartsparks catalyzes critical thinking, challenges prejudices and inspires individuals to work together.
